Well, the weekend has come and gone, and if you weren’t there you missed out!

As a newcomer to Le Weekend with the club, I didn’t know what to expect. We pulled out of the Church avenue early on Friday evening, and made our way up to the coast. After getting settled in, and fighting over which bed we would sleep in, we went for a nice walk along the coast, which was a good trick to get us all nice and tired for an early night (yeah right!).

In the evening, we played some icebreaker games. Then Lyle and Jake showed us all a trick that they’d learnt, and we spent the whole weekend trying to figure out how they had done it! Lyle finally showed us some mercy on the Sunday afternoon and spilled the beans on the whole affair!

On Saturday morning those doing orderlies managed to wipe the sleep from their eyes to make us all a lovely breakfast that was wolfed down faster than the time it took Stuart to go fetch his (massive) camera from the boys room! The lads enjoyed a good game of footie, while the girls had a granny meeting indoors-it wasn’t our fault though: someone had lost the hockey ball!

On Saturday night we played the box game (another one I'd never played before) and I have to say it was good fun! Many unusual tactics were used by everyone-including one lad, who could bend himself into the most unbelievable shapes, and easily managed to pick the cardboard up from the floor!

When we played the detective game, Craig managed to make us all laugh with his elaborate, and very loud deaths. This wasn't the only time Craig was loud on the weekend-he let rip a very loud, wet and smelly one on Saturday night that made everyone cringe - even Sake!!

We did quite a bit of walking on the weekend, with Lyle leading us on walks along the beach. The weather was brilliant, so we were able to take advantage of it, and made a couple of trips to the sand dunes. It was a real highlight of our weekend ‘trip‘-and trip was what a lot of people did as they made their way back down! Crazy folk ran the whole way down the dunes, while the more sensible people amongst us carefully slid down; or better yet simply watched from below! Jake added a twist of his own to the fun as he began to ‘leap’ down the dune, and when he made it to the bottom alive, Steve decided to follow suit. Poor Stuart became yet another victim of the dunes when Steve fell after a big leap, rolled right into him, and knocked him over! Carnage! Of course John was on hand with the video camera, so it’s all on tape, so that poor Stuart can relive his ordeal over and over and over...

Paul, Laura and Lyle contributed some really challenging daily devotions for us all to digest over the weekend. It was great to enjoy fellowship with others while we were there. We all went to Church on Sunday morning, then came back for a lovely lunch prepared by Yvonne and the girls! The big rugby match between Ireland and England was on that afternoon, so most people watched some of it, including Johnny Mitchell and Craig Evans, who were the only ones who were cheering for England! Nonetheless, everyone else supported Ireland until the end... even if they did lose!

It was a very tired but happy bunch of people that made their way home on Sunday afternoon, and many of us made it to church that evening as well! Thank you to everyone who helped to make the weekend a success, including the drivers who did an excellent job of ferrying us all around! Next stop - camp! I can’t wait...!

One spring evening, the bird were singing, the sun was slowly setting, an innocent group of clubbers met at the YMCA building in Antrim to embark on an adventure as yet unparalleled in any movie (except possibly Happy Gilmore, but thats anohter story, quite a good one, but another one none-the-less). The adventurers, path (well the YMCA minibus and a few cars really, but thats not as exciting) took them far and wide until they happened upon a dark forest...

As it turned out Texas "Chainsaw Massacre" McClean had been there before and with a little help from his friends had chopped up a few victims and spread their various bits about the forest.

The job of the intrepid adventurers? To seperate into three teams and collect the parts and take them to the YMCA centre in Antrim where these young men could get themselves off the street. After much wondering about, getting lost, being slapped up the face by branches, stuck in mud and putting up with the howls of wild animals (not to mention Beavis's "lets go hoooome!") the teams got fed up and went back to the YMCA with whatever bits they had. Unfortunately seeing as the bodys were made of plywood there was no hope of reassembling any people or even selling bits to medical science for a tidy profit. Oh well, maybe next year...

The journey began at the scene of the church halls, the place where we boarded the wondrous Ulsterbus for our trip to the Port. The journey there had its' moments, Sammy and Stewart Mawhinney showing off their amazing phones that can take photos, they were randomly taking photos of everyone and anything they could. We also had to make a few stops because Cara decided that she really needed to go to the toilet and couldn't wait until we got to the Port. After a few stops we finally found a garage that had a toilet and Cara relieved herself from the little problem she was having.

When we arrived at the White Rocks we took a beautiful long walk into Portrush along the beach. The walk was amazing, the weather was great and everyone was in top form and full of chat. When the beautiful stroll came to an end and we entered Portrush a few people made another stop for the toilet, how unusual! When we finally entered the Port the excitement was to a climax, most people headed off their separate ways (mainly to places to get food) However, the climax came to an end when the only places that seemed to be open were KFC the chippy and the Arcade. With hardly anyone there but ourselves and Barry's not even open we had to find ways of making our own fun, Connor, Gavin and the rest of the lads know what I'm talking about!!!!

The night came to an end with all of us meeting in front of Barry's, but the fun wasn't over, when the uproar began at the expense of Robert. I'm sure getting covered in the products of a dog wasn't too much fun! We then all took a walk to the bus heading for home. The journey home was the usual craic, everyone was just talking about what they did and finding out the obscene things others got up to. Oh lets not forget Stewart showing off his new phone a bit more!

The trip all in all was great craic with everyone in top form, the sun in the Port and the rain in Antrim, you couldn't have asked for anything more!
