Some choice events from 2005/06:-

On Friday the 21st of April (the first night club started after Easter) about 19 hard-core clubbers left Antrim after youth club to go to Castlerock, where we were to stay in the Evans' (kindly lent) apartment, for a weekend of surfing at the North coast. The first night involved the boys designating the girls 3/4s of the apartment, even though the boy/girl split was 50/50 (that's chivalry for you!), everybody staking out their territory ("I want the fluffy mat!!" etc, etc...) and finally, sleep.

On Saturday morning we decided we'd go surfing in the afternoon because that was when the surf would be at its optimum, yada yada yada... So we went on a (trademark fayc) walk to the Mussendom Temple, where Jake, after yooooooing Ricky because he nearly kicked his ball over the cliff, managed to boot the ball, guess where, yep you got it - over the cliff. Nice one Jake, hehe.

Spurred on by the guys' enthusiasm to surf (I think now it would be appropriate to mention that Lyle had been up at 5am to check the surf. These guys truly are committed to surfing!) which was not dampened by the girls' reluctance to do so since it was cloudy and cold - even on dry land; we hit Whiterocks on Saturday afternoon. Oh yes, we were the business, dedicated surfer dudes/chicks, some of us blue to the bone and spluttering, but there, in the water nevertheless.

After an hour and a half, the girls (except Aimee) had had enough - as Lauren so aptly put it - "it was so cold, it was SORE!" As klass as it had been in the 3-man sit-on kayak zooming along on top of a wave (it really was KLASS!) after a while it just couldn't make up for having purple hands! So, we gals came up with the ingenious idea of going to Waterworld where we could steep in hot water for a couple of hours and defrost. I couldn't fathom how the lads and Aimee (you go girl!) had chosen to stay in the icy water when they could be roasty toasty in the Jacuzzi with us girls. Mystified respect to them.

That night, we went out for dinner in "Costa Italiana" where we were joined by AC, Ben and Gemma. The grub was good and the craic was even better, I do believe.

On Sunday God gave us a gorgeous day! Everyone was pretty bright therefore, apart from Mark who had suffered a toothpaste attack from one of our new arrivals (work it out, Mark is a BOY) and Paul and Ricky who had to leave for other commitments. The great weather gave us more incentive to miss church than to go 'cos we were itching to hit the waves but we went to Portrush Baptist and then headed to the East Strand (I think that's its name) for lunch and surf. Surfing was much better this time 'cos even though the water's temperature hadn't shot up by 20 degrees since the sun was shining, once you got out you got warmer, compared with going numb like on Saturday. We had a little incident involving keys... I went to Paula's car to get my stuff from her boot and you see she has a car which once you shut the boot, it locks. I was suffering a blond moment and was slightly distracted by the presence of hot boys and by the fact that AC had just stolen my towel, leaving my underwear floating about and much more distracted by the combination of them both, so I shut the boot, with the keys in it. This posed a slight problem since the car was locked too. Poor Paula and Cherith had to go about in borrowed clothes once they came out of the sea 'cos their stuff was stuck in the boot. The problem was sorted out by Steff bringing the spare key for Paula's car from Antrim to Portrush. Thanks Steff.

This resulted in most of us staying up at the coast until the late evening chilling out in Morellis - my intention all along of course... Now we are all really tired (and tasting of salt - from the sea) but happy 'cos we had a simply immense weekend.
